1. School  Introduction


History and Establishment


School of Nursing & Midwifery under the name of Education and Research Institute of Kurdistan Public Health was established in 1365. It offered Associate degrees in Nursing and Laboratory Sciences. After making significant progress, the school became an independent entity and started offering Bachelor degrees in Nursing and Midwifery, and Operating Room. The school applied for the admission of students of Master degree in 1392. At the present moment, the school is offering the following three main programs:

__ Master degree in Nursing and Bachelor degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing and Critical Care Nursing.

__ Master and Bachelor degree in Midwifery

__ Master degree in Operating Room

At present, about 560 students are studying in the school.       School's board of director is comprised of the Dean, Vice-Dean for Education and Vice-Dean for Research. Nursing, Midwifery, and Operating Room are the three Departments in The School of Nursing and Midwifery. The school has 35 faculty members and 15 staff who are members of Educational, Administrative, and Financial board.


1.2. Physical Description of the School



Educational Environment

School of Nursing & Midwifery is a three-story building with 12 classrooms, a student forum, a clinical skills center, a library, a study center, and an internet center. Educational Therapeutic, Specialty and Sub-Specialty Centers of Tawhid, Besat, Ghods, and Kawsar along with other urban and rural Therapeutic Health centers comprise the clinical educational environments of the school.
