According to a report by the Public Relations Office of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Zarezadeh, the University's Vice-chancellor for Education, announced that the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings has released its results for the 2025 Asia University Rankings. The methodology for this ranking aligns with that of THE’s World University Rankings, though certain indicators are recalibrated and reweighted to reflect the Asian context. 18 performance indicators across five core missions: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry engagement evaluate Asian universities.
Dr. Zarezadeh noted that Chinese universities dominate the rankings. This year’s evaluation included 853 Asian universities from 35 countries. The number of participating Iranian institutions has risen compared to the previous year, with 85 Iranian universities securing positions between 69th and 601st in Asia.
He further stated that Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences has maintained its position, securing a rank in the 301-350 range.
It is noteworthy that Iran’s top-ranked medical universities include Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, which ranked 109th, 121st, and 154th in Asia, respectively.
Dr. Zarezadeh attributed the growth in the university’s international metrics—particularly in education and research—to strategic planning, collaborative efforts by administrators and faculty, and the diligent expertise of staff across various departments. He expressed optimism that this upward trajectory will continue through the precise implementation of the university’s strategic development plans.
